TEHRAN -- The Iranian Cultural Office in Athens and the Parnassus Literary Society plan to examine Iranian and Greek philosophers’ thoughts on Socrates during a seminar in the Greek capital beginning on February 23.

A number of articles and papers on subjects such as “Socrates in Muslim Thought”, “Who Is the Real Socrates?”, “Was Socrates a Prophet?”, “The Wit and Wisdom of Socrates”, and “Self-Examination in the Thought of Socrates and Islamic Sages” will be presented during the two-day seminar.

The idea for holding the seminar was warmly welcomed by Greek officials, Iranian cultural attaché in Athens Mohammadreza Darbandi told IRNA on Wednesday.

The Iranian Cultural Office has been relatively active over the past year as a cosponsor of several cultural events in Athens.

With the help of Greek officials, the cultural office organized the Ferdowsi and Homer Conference last January and is currently compiling an English-Greek-Persian dictionary.
